How We Test the Kit

What the Waxwright kit contains, what it leaves to you, and what its buyers report, point by point.

Our criteria

1. Contents against the printed list. The contents printed on the kit are one pitcher, two bags of wax, 50 wicks plus 20 extra, four tins, ten jars, two fragrance oils, four dyes, two centering devices, one spoon, 56 glue dots and the manual. That list is reproduced on the product page.
2. What you supply yourself. The box covers melting, scenting, coloring and pouring, but you supply a heat source and a saucepan for the water bath, and no thermometer or scale is included. The product pages state that plainly rather than letting you discover it mid-session.
3. Dimensions. The printed size diagram gives the box, pitcher, jars and tins, and those figures appear on the home page. Where nothing is published, notably the weight of the wax bags and any numbered wick size, we publish nothing.
4. Every review, read individually. We read all 120 reviews rather than the star average, and tallied the recurring themes. That tally is published on the home page and led with on the reviews page, including the eleven mentions of a damaged carton.
5. What this covers. The carton travels badly, the plastic jars are basic, and the two 10 ml fragrance bottles are a taste rather than a supply. All three appear on the product pages because they are the things a buyer would otherwise find out the hard way.

What happens when something goes wrong

A carton can still be crushed in transit. What we can control is what happens next: if a component arrives damaged or missing, we send the replacement part rather than asking you to box the whole kit back up.
